Air to Port B forces the pistons inwards, leading to the pinion to change clockwise whilst the air is currently being fatigued from Port A.

Air to Port A forces the pistons outwards, causing the pinion to change clockwise whilst the air is becoming exhausted from Port B.
Air to Port B forces the pistons inwards, leading to the pinion to turn counterclockwise even though the air is currently being exhausted from Port A.
